Susucaru is the entry-level volcanic red wine from iconic Etna based low-intervention winemaker Frank Cornelissen. A field blend with lots of red crunchy fruit, slight tartness and brightness. A juicy banger full of wet stones and earthy notes.
Unlike Frank's more tannic, cru wines like Munjebel range and Magma, Susucaru has a 'mega-gluggable' profile that's difficult not to love. Expect peppery hits and fruit explosions. Lovely mouthfeel that is serious, yet approachable.
And if you are wondering where the name comes from, 'Susucaru' is a Sicilian expression meaning “they stole it” which is what Frank’s crew shouted when they realized most of the grapes from their first vintage had vanished. Thankfully for all of us, in 2022 grapes were kept intact for us to savour.
