Microvinification is a fascinating project started in 2018 by the Kyriakides family, in order to explore further the character and full potential of Cyprus' native grape varieties - and believe you me, they've done that for sure. Every year, they try new takes on indigenous varieties and bottle their best experiments, summing up to 33 different wines from day one 'til today. The Fifth edition of microvinifications marks the last one.
Wine Freak showcases the Maratheftiko variety sourced from selected old vines in the Vouni Panayia area at an average 1000 m elevation. The wine is spontaneously fermented as whole bunches in a steel tank and then matures on Xynisteri fine lees for five months. An energetic springtime red with the vicacity & power of a Ramones or Blondie banger. Skinny, scrappy & light on its feet, it smacks of candied cherry & sweet strawberries. Plush tannin & howling acidity, mad crushable & loves an indiscreet chill.
