Munjebel Rosso VA by Frank Cornelissen – Etna’s High-Altitude Muse

The most elegant rebel in the Munjebel lineup: Rosso VA, aka Vigne Alte. Born from Frank Cornelissen’s three highest vineyards—Tartaraci, Rampante Soprana, and Barbabecchi—this wine is all about altitude, old vines, and volcanic poise.

Made with 100% Nerello Mascalese from vines pushing 90 years, these grapes grow on ancient, terraced slopes high up Mount Etna’s northern valley. The result? A red that’s all finesse and no flash—Frank’s most Burgundian cru, and an ode to the power of elevation.

Expect a glass that’s translucent ruby, whispering of cherries, raspberries, dried herbs and volcanic dust. It ferments slow and wild for 60 days in neutral epoxy, then ages gracefully in tank before bottling—unfined, lightly filtered, and full of soul.

On the palate, VA delivers a tightrope balance of energy and elegance: bright acidity, satin-smooth tannins, and a long, lifted finish that just won’t quit.

VA is the wine for when you're feeling contemplative, classy, and maybe just a little volcanic.
