Munjebel Rosso FM by Frank Cornelissen – Etna’s Quiet Charmer

Munjebel Rosso FM, Frank Cornelissen’s ode to the Feudo di Mezzo contrada—more specifically, its lower slopes, or sottana. Don’t let the valley floor location fool you: this 100% Nerello Mascalese is less brawn, more brain. Here, elegance reigns supreme—even in hot years, this wine stays smooth, structured, and beautifully composed.

Grown from vines that have seen over 40 vintages, the grapes are gently de-stemmed and crushed before embarking on a slow, wild fermentation—just grapes, native yeasts, and 50 days of skin contact. No additions, no shortcuts. It then naps in neutral epoxy tanks for 18 months, followed by another 18 in bottle, developing finesse that would make a Burgundian blush.

What you get in the glass is minerally, graceful, and effortlessly refined. Think fine red fruits, soft earth, and a whisper of Etna’s smoky soul. A wine that struts in velvet slippers, not hiking boots.
