Munjebel Bianco VA – The High Priestess of Etna Whites
Take your palate to the clouds with Munjebel Bianco VA, Frank Cornelissen’s high-altitude white wine that’s all about tension, texture, and volcanic drama.
Sourced from the loftiest vineyards on Mount Etna—perched at 900 to 1000m above sea level—this wine flirts with the edge of viticulture. The grapes? A 50/50 power couple: Grecanico Dorato and Carricante, grown on ungrafted vines in the mineral-rich soils of Calderara, Crasà, and Picciolo.
Fermented wild with indigenous yeasts and a gentle skin maceration of three days, Bianco VA gets the full Cornelissen treatment: no fining, low sulfur, aged in neutral epoxy tanks, and bottled pure.
What’s in the glass? Golden glow, exotic fruit, and a touch of resin on the nose. The palate is where it lifts off—silky, salty, slightly grippy, with mouthwatering acidity and an echo of ripe stone fruit. It’s got the minerality of a mountain stream, the body of a white Burgundy, and the soul of an Etna rebel.
Not your average white. This is Etna’s altitudinal anthem.
